Blue & Gold Weekend

On September 24th, 2022, SPSEA was a part of the Blue-and-Gold weekend, Pitt-Greensburg's homecoming, hosted by UPG every year. Our chapter ran a "kid's corner" where we held activities for young children such as spin art, coloring pages, and bracelet making. The children who benefited from this event included children of employees, alum, and from the local community.
Reading Under the Stars

On October 7th, 2022, we hosted a brand new event called Reading Under the Stars. We wanted to give children a safe and welcoming place to read books and have books read to them. The children left the event with new books, popcorn, and the opportunity to meet our campus' mascot. Children from the the local community got the chance to come to a college campus to read, and they benefited the most from this event.
Hallow-Boo Carnival

On October 28th, 2022, we hosted a Halloween carnival for children within our community where they had the chance to dress up, win prizes, eat candy, and play tons of Halloween games. This annual event is always super fun as our SPSEA members love to dress up, too!
Jeannette Head Start Christmas Party

On December 2nd, 2022, we went to Jeanette Head Start preschool to provide a Christmas party for the children there. We worked with the students who made crafts, played games, and ate snacks. Santa made a surprise visit to the children's school and even gave each the toy they had requested (in letters to Santa) to open up that day. Head Start is a federally-funded, lower-income preschool; our campus community provides students with a present to open that day, a present of clothes to open Christmas morning, and even give their parent(s) a $50 giftcard to get food for Christmas. We also didn't forget about the teachers. SPSEA gave each teacher at the school a present to thank them.
SOPA Basketball Game

On January 14, 2023, Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA and Pitt- Greensburg Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted Special Olympics athletes on our campus to play an exhibition game. For this, SPSEA members created raffle baskets to benefit the Special Olympics of Westmoreland County. Throughout the existence of this event, Pitt-Greensburg SOPA Hoops has raised over $5,000 for Special Olympics programs in Westmoreland County.
Dr. Seuss Day
Raffle baskets were made by:
Amber Bloom, Reagan Dahl, Emily Gill, Jenna Johnson, Jadyn Zemba.

On March 3rd, 2023, we went to a local school where our members provided each grade level of students with Dr. Suess activities such as bingo, snacks, a book read/rapped to them, and a worksheet based on the reader's theater they had earlier in the day. Children in the school at every grade benefited from the efforts and creativity of our club in designing and implementing the activities.
Relay for Life (2022)

On April 9th, 2022, SPSEA was part of a group effort to help raise money for cancer research. We created a games for children who attended Relay for Life. We created a Game of Life-themed mini-golf board where kids had the chance to play and win a prize. The children of our faculty and staff as well as children in the local community were able to be involved. The Relay for Life event raised hundreds of dollars for cancer research.
Muffins to All Professors for National Educators Week

On November 14th, 2022, Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA members bought, packaged, and distributed muffins to every professor on our campus for National Educations Week.
Handwritten Notes to Veterans for Veteran's Day

During one of our general meetings, we wrote notes to thank veterans for their service through hand-written cards. These cards were then delivered to the local VA.
