Senior Send-Off (April 2022)

Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA officers, faculty advisors, and members joined together to give our 2022 graduating seniors a final farewell.

Fall Activities Fair

Held on campus at the beginning of the fall semester, the Fall Activities Fair gives clubs and organizations an opportunity to reach out and display what they are all about! Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA has a table to hand out information to new or returning students and encourage them to join. Raffle tickets are sold to those who would like to buy them and all proceeds benefit P.A.C.E.

Fall Kick-Off Meeting

To begin to the new academic year, Pitt-Greensburg's SPSEA held its Kick-Off Meeting, which was introduced at their table at the Activities Fair. Officers and professors of education were introduced to familiarize new and returning members with who they are. During the meeting, all attendees received a copy of the Fall Schedule, were encouraged to become involved in the organization, and were welcomed with open arms.

Trip to Washington D.C. & Gettysburg

Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA members took a trip to Washington, D.C., and Gettysburg in October 2022. While in Washington, D.C., students visited several monuments and museums, learning and reflecting on the history of our nation's capital. This trip was very important, as students can make see, visually, where the most impactful legislation is made, especially those that impact education. While in Gettysburg, we toured the historic town and students participated in a ghost tour of the city. Before coming home, we toured the battlefields and met with reenactors.

Cookie and Hot Chocolate Table for Finals Week (Fall 2022)

To ease the stress of finals, SPSEA members volunteered to hand out cookies and hot chocolate to students. Taking a break is always a good idea, and SPSEA members wanted to remind students of this!

Induction Ceremony

Once you join SPSEA, you automatically become a member. New members were invited to attend an induction ceremony, symbolizing the strong community and dedication of the Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA.  On February 1, 2023, we welcomed 20 new members during the ceremony. Our keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Jeanne Burth, Director of Field Placement and Teacher Certification at Pitt-Greensburg. She is retiring but was one of our advisers in prior years.

Communication to Other UPG SPSEA Members

Frequent emails are sent to SPSEA members, communicating upcoming general meetings, events, and news. These emails not only serve as reminders to members of meetings but act as encouragement to get involved in fun and informative events happening on our campus!

Pittsburgh House of Delegates Including a Southwest EA Regional Meeting

Brennen Marsh, Marinna Lagatuda, and Amber Bloom attended the Pittsburgh House of Delegates in the Southwest EA Regional Meeting. Because of their attendance and speeches, they were able to propose paid student teaching, which later passed and will be in effect in the coming years.

Social Media: Facebook and Instagram

In the age of technology, Pitt-Greensburg SPSEA uses Facebook and Instagram to send information and pictures of members and those outside the club. Our Facebook page showcases events that have taken place and send information concerning education-related events outside of our campus. Our Instagram page is used to remind students of upcoming meetings and events, as well as showcase the events occurring within our community. Our pages are linked below.
